Timothy Swan (1758-1842, composer and compiler of sacred tunes and secular music, was born in Worcester, Mass., and settled as a hatter in Northfield, Mass. Swan later began teaching music in Suffield, Conn., where he composed the greater part of his works and published The Songster's Assistant, 1800 and New England Harmony, 1801.
